Betty Alice Fitzpatrick was born in Tillamook, OR on November 17, 1942 to Edmund A. and Betty Jo Fitzpatrick. She married the love her of life, Paul Owens Jr. on May 26, 1962 in Tillamook. She passed away in Beaverton on Monday September 7, 2026 after a decade of dementia. A life-long resident of Tillamook County, Paul and Betty made their home in Nehalem where she worked as a teacher’s aide at Nehalem Elementary, enjoyed spending time with her family, walking with friends, and doing puzzles. For the past decade, we slowly lost Betty to dementia though she continued to be spry – walking every day with caregivers and maintained her sense of humor. She can rest now and join her beloved Paul.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Paul. She is survived by her brother Allen Fitzpatrick and his wife Diana; her daughter Laura Swanson, and husband Rich, granddaughter Kalli Young and husband Bob, and great-grandson Colter; Grandson Stephen Owens, wife Anna, and great-grandchildren, Mary Jane, Lincoln and James, and many other family members.
Betty loved her dogs, and especially Scamp who kept her company for 18 years. Donations in her memory to Animal Haven by the Sea would be very thoughtful and appreciated.
