She peacefully passed away October 23, 2023 with family by her side. Maxine attended Nehalem Grade School and Nehalem Union High School. She lived most of her life in Tillamook County. Living at Suzanne Elise Assisted Living in Seaside, Oregon from February 2021 until October 23, 2023.
Maxine married Vern Scovell in 1949. They had two children, Lindy and Karen. She worked various jobs and is remembered for her work at the Nehalem Grade School cafeteria. After divorcing, Maxine worked at the Tillamook County court house.

Maxine enjoyed league bowling in Rockaway and later at Randy’s Bowling alley in Bayside Gardens, Oregon (the bowling alley building is now The Lighthouse Restaurant).
Maxine was an avid golfer, earning three “Hole in One” trophies. Playing golf at the original Neah-Kah-Nie golf course, she made her first hole in one. She traveled to play at many golf courses but felt most at home playing golf with friends at Alderbrook golf course at Idaville, Oregon.

Maxine loved being a mom, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Family and friends received many knitted and crocheted gifts. Her grandchildren wore beautiful hand knitted sweaters and cuddled with toasty warm afghans. She had a very soft heart for dogs and many dogs were family members throughout her life.
