OREGON DEPT. OF FISH & WILDLIFE: Ocean salmon anglers get four days of fishing Columbia River subarea; reminders on mid-coast salmon seasons

(August 16, 2024- NEWPORT, Ore.) – Ocean salmon fishing in Cape Falcon, OR to Leadbetter Pt., WA (Columbia River subarea) reopens Monday, Aug. 19 through Thursday Aug. 22 only. Effective Friday, Aug. 23 possession of salmon onboard a vessel in the subarea is prohibited.

A catch limit review showed 3,828 coho remain in the quota. The bag limit remains two salmon – hatchery coho only and just one Chinook.

Cape Falcon to Humbug Mt. subarea:

  • Mark-selective coho season closed effective Monday, Aug. 19.
  • All-salmon-except coho season continues Aug. 19-31.
  • All salmon season (non-mark selective coho season) opens Sept. 1 through the earlier of the 25,000 coho quota or Sept. 30.
