Sandy Johnson loves being a part of the Rockaway Beach community. A very active outdoorswoman, Sandy enjoys kayaking, hiking and is on the Dragon Boat team. She serves the community on the Planning Commission, is a Co-Coordinator for RB Volunteers, but that is not what garnered her so many nominations for Volunteer of the Year.
It’s the joyous smile that doesn’t leave her face as she drives around town watering all the planters. It’s the sincere hello, how are you today? When asked why she chose to volunteer for watering duty, she replied, “We had just moved here and I was looking for an opportunity to meet people and make new friends.”
Sandy, you are Volunteer of the Year because the people of Rockaway Beach want you to know that they see all you do, and this is their way of saying, “Thank you.”
