Tillamook County Public Works Director Chris Laity just contacted The Oceansider with advance word that ODOT will close Highway 131 to all traffic starting at 10 a.m. on December 20 through at least January 6, 2025. The closure just north of the entrance to Happy Camp is in response to a “failure” of the highway in that area. ODOT indicates that they are closing the highway, not only for repairs, but also to conduct a general review of its condition that might merit further action.
To reach Highway 101 and points west, Oceansiders are advised to detour onto the newly reconstructed Cape Meares Loop Highway to Bayocean Road, which then meets Highway 131 west of Tillamook.
