TILLAMOOK COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT Advisory: Boil Water Notice Pleasant Valley Water Company, Tillamook;

Posted on July 24, 2024 by Editor

Pleasant Valley Water Co., serving customers south of Tillamook has issued a boil water order today July 24, 2024 to all consumers in the system due to system leak and low water pressure. Until future notice. Expecting testing results within 48 hours.
Here is a timeline of events regarding a massive water leak in the Pleasant Valley Water system yesterday, July 23, 2024 at 8:30 pm.
UPDATE:
3:30pm on Wed. 7/24
The water system is slowly being pressurized to fill the lower elevation piping. As soon as the contractor can get the repair spot bedded in with gravel and buried, we will increase the flow and restore full pressure. This will cause the water to move up into the higher elevations. If you live in one of those areas, expect air in your lines to be coming out ahead of the water. We suggest opening an outside spigot as a release valve for the air. Let it run for a bit until it is no longer spitting or milky. If your water is milky (air) or brownish (silt) these are not a health hazard but not very aesthetic either!
Once the system is up to full pressure and the chlorine levels are consistent throughout the system, samples will be pulled and we will drive them out to the lab in Tigard where they will be tested. This is a 24 hour process and we will not be able to give the “all clear” and lift the boil water notice until then.
We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding while we work through this episode.

Wednesday July 24 @5:30AM
Pleasant Valley Water Company is currently recovering from a massive water leak.
Crews finally reached the leak at 3am to find our 6″ pipe split over 3ft in length. Repair is almost complete. However, restore will take into the afternoon. We’re waiting on rock to snug in our pipe properly before we increase flows.
A boil water notice has been issued as a precaution, because of the negative pressure in the system.
Air in the lines will be present throughout the day. Please allow us time to flush and update us later if you have an issue that persists.
Low cell reception areas, but feel free to call or text Clyde Wagner at Wagner Water Works if needed. 503-812-9751.
UPDATE:
10:30 PM 7/23/24
Leak has been located near the Killam Crk Bridge on South Prairie Rd. Steps to isolate are in progress and repair crews are on their way.
Tuesday July 23
8:30 PM
We have a massive water leak somewhere in the Pleasant Valley Water System. Crews are out searching. If you live in the Pleasant Valley Water System please be advised that we may be shutting down service soon to locate and repair.
