But behind that important work are unique pressures that can take a toll on mental health. Long hours, physical demands, unpredictable weather, financial uncertainty, and the responsibility of maintaining a livelihood that often spans generations can all contribute to ongoing stress.
For many in agriculture, it can be diffi cult to prioritize mental health or seek support. The values that make this community strong—independence, resilience, and a deep sense of responsibility—can also make it harder to reach out. There can be a tendency to “push through” challenges, even when support could make a meaningful diff erence. In smaller, rural communities, concerns about privacy or stigma can also play a role in whether someone feels comfortable asking for help.

Support doesn’t have to mean stepping away from your responsibilities—it can be a way to stay strong, focused, and able to continue doing the work that matters most.
