Join Tillamook County’s VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) Post 2848 for these events for February 2024:
– Feb 8, 1230pm-Lunch at Tillamook Bowling Lanes
– February 15, 6pm- Post Meeting at Bay City Hall
SPECIAL NEW EVENT – February 18, 1pm- Veterans Spotlight at Tillamook Air Museum. Greg Moore to present
The VFW has teamed up with the Tillamook Air Museum to hold a Veteran Spotlight on the third Sunday of each month at 1pm. Our first Veteran Spotlight Speaker is Greg Moore. Come out to the Tillamook Air Museum February 18 at 1pm to hear about his time in service. There will also be a chance for you to ask questions afterwards. We are excited to have Greg lead the way into what will hopefully be a long lasting opportunity for Veterans to share their stories, and no better place to do it than where history houses history. We are looking for any veteran wishing to give a little presentation about their time in service kind of like a show and tell, your own little Veterans Day program without all the extra hoopla. The goal is to be more visible in the community and draw more veterans into our post, and encourage Air Museum patronage.
The VFW is planning to reinstate the VFW Auxiliary. If approved the next step will be obtaining 15 new individuals for the program. Qualified persons include VFW eligible members spouses, parents, siblings, grandparents, grandchildren and children 18 years of age and older. The VFW is also finishing up details on a grant program to help assist the school district food program in an effort to combat child hunger.
As always we’d like to see everyone attending these and other functions. Our program is focused on Camaraderie, Community and Veteran Assistance. If you’re a Veteran and you need a ride to meetings, events, etc. please contact the VFW Post. We have members happy to make it happen.
