View the Future, Yachats’ local land trust, will host its first annual fundraising event, Rooted & Rising: An Evening with Indigenous Leaders and Advocates, on Saturday, September 12, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Yachats Commons.
The evening will bring together community members, conservation supporters, and Tribal leaders to celebrate the deep connections between Indigenous stewardship, land conservation, and the future of the Yachats area. Proceeds will support View the Future’s work to preserve the natural and cultural landscapes that define the community.
Keynote speaker Amy Bowers Cordalis, a Yurok attorney, fisherwoman, and nationally recognized advocate for Indigenous rights and Klamath River restoration, will share insights from her leadership in one of the largest river restoration efforts in U.S. history. Featured speaker Robert Kentta, a Tribal Council member of the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians, cultural leader, and historian, will discuss the history, culture, and traditions of Indigenous peoples on the Oregon Coast.
“This evening is an opportunity to honor Indigenous leadership, celebrate the partnerships that make conservation possible, and inspire our community to invest in the future of the lands and stories that make Yachats so special,” said Gretchen Dubie, Executive Director of View the Future.
Guests will enjoy presentations from the Indigenous leaders, live music by pianist Vicki Brabham joined by vocalist Sage Parks, complementary small bites and hors d’oeuvres prepared by Chef William Webster, silent and live auctions, and giveaways.
Tickets are $75 per person. Those who purchase before September 1 will be entered for a chance to win a free “Golden Ticket” (valued at $50), which allows the winner to choose any live auction item available at the event.
