Weather Event Update – Manzanita
Monday, 1/15/2024, 11:30 am PST
Report from Manzanita Emergency Manager and Public Works Director
The weather station at the reservoir site has the temperature currently at 31 degrees and rising. All but one road has been cleared of lines and trees. There are many places with ICE still so please use caution when you are out. As long as the weather holds the crew will be out in force tomorrow removing debris. It will take time as there is a lot of it. I am monitoring the next front and what that might bring very closely. The NWS has issued a ICE STORM WARNING for above 1000 feet from 10AM to 10PM Tuesday.
City of Nehalem – Notice – “It appears that our water system is losing some water because of the freeze. We are asking everyone to please check for leaks around your residences. In case of an emergency please call 503-801-5001 or 503-801-9055 Thank you!”
We are not seeing a jump in water usage yet. I am expecting it to happen here in the Manzanita water system. Please keep a sharp eye out.

As of 10:15pm (1/15/2024) the current road report in Manzanita:
Ocean Ave. 50 feet east of Green Ridge. (Power restored, Travel lane open)
North Ave 20 feet east of Fir Ave. (Closed with wires and a pole down)
College Ave from 3rd St N. to Knobcone (Power restored, Travel lane open)
First St. 20 feet south of North Ave. (Travel lane open)
First St & Manzanita Ave Intersection (Power restored, Travel lane open)
S. Third St 100 feet south of Laneda Ave. (Power restored, Travel lane open)

Have you checked on your neighbors? It’s cold, are they? Once it is safe to do so and we start to thaw out, make sure to check on homes around you for water leaks.
Falling limbs and ice pose a danger so keep eyes open.
