2021 Cape Kiwanda Longboard Classic Event Cancelled; Fundraising Silent Auction Goes Virtual – Help Support the PC Skatepark

Posted on September 20, 2021 by Editor

It is with heavy hearts that we announced the cancelation of the 2021 Cape Kiwanda Longboard Classic (CKLC). Due to the recent surge of COVID in Oregon and particularly in Tillamook County, the Tillamook County Board of Commissioners has terminated all event permits for the near future. Despite our attempts to modify the event, this includes the 2021 Cape Kiwanda Longboard Classic. As the main fundraiser for the PC Skatepark, this puts a huge damper on the positive momentum after completing phase 1. Yet, we understand the need to take drastic measures due to the gravity of the situation in Tillamook County and the rest of the state. We hope to be back bigger and better than ever in 2021.

Giving back to our community through the funds raised by the Cape Kiwanda Longboard Classic is one of the things we are most proud of. Seeing these efforts come full circle with the opening of the @pcsk8park makes all the hard work more than worth it! But the job isn’t done yet. Phase 2 of the park is in the works and we need to keep the fundraising momentum going despite not being able to run the contest. Similar to last year, we will be running both the Coastal Craft Shaping Event and Silent Auction virtually! Win amazing art, like this framed photo from @kfc_or, or a surfboard from one of 8 local shapers!  The auction will run the week of September 19 – September 26. We will be posting more details about the Coastal Craft and Silent Auction at @momentsurfco.  You can also support the skatepark by purchasing a hoodie or t-shirt.  Here’s the link to the online auction:
https://www.32auctions.com/organ…/68676/auctions/108731…
As always, 100% of the proceeds will go towards the Park!
It’s because of your generosity and that of all the competitors, volunteers, artists, shapers, vendors, and businesses that the skatepark is here and will continue to improve. Help us keep moving forward!

We can’t thank you all enough for your support! Please stay safe everyone!

There are many ways for everyone to participate – send your best wave video to Moments Surf; bid on custom-made surf boards, art and more.

This year’s silent auction will feature surfboards, skateboards, and art and photography by PNW artists. Due to the cancellation of this year’s event, the silent auction will be entirely online. All proceeds go toward the construction and development of Phase 2 of the PC Skatepark! Bidding will start September 19th and end at 3pm on September 26th.

Virtual Coastal Craft Auction

Originally started as an idea to utilize the already rented tent during the final day of the contest, Coastal Craft in two years has proven to be a standalone event in itself. The most unique surf event in the PNW, Coastal Craft brings together an eclectic blend of surfboard shapers and manufacturers to celebrate the time honored tradition of hand crafted surfboards.
