There is increased instability across the area today, October 1st, especially here at the coast, so there is a chance of thunderstorms (15-25%) there at the coast today, spreading inland later this morning with the thunderstorm threat persisting into the evening. These thunderstorms could bring gusty winds, heavy rain, and small hail. The NWS says that based on guidance, this weather pattern also sets up for the potential of funnel clouds, as well as water spouts, near the coast.
Breezy southerly winds are possible with the strongest winds there along the coast, especially at the beaches and headlands where wind gusts up
to 45 – 50 mph will be likely from later this morning through this evening. Inland areas can see wind gusting to near 35 mph for the same time period.
