GORDON’S WEEKLY WEATHER UPDATE 5/18/26: Spring returns this week with fair, dry, mild conditions all week

Posted on May 18, 2026 by Editor

By Gordon McCraw, Meteorologist for the Tillamook County Pioneer

Well, after a cool, and somewhat wet weekend, things are looking like they will slowly warm up through midweek. And, after getting just under an inch of rain from Friday through yesterday, the models say we will remain dry all of this week. The weather picture shows a trough of low pressure off to the east with a building ridge of high pressure off in the eastern Pacific. It does look like we will occasionally see a disturbance ride up over the ridge at times this week and bring some cloudiness through the area, but the chance of rain is pretty slim.

So tonight we see increasing cloudiness, then a chance of some patchy early morning fog, and with calm winds, the overnight low drops to near 45.

Tomorrow will remain partly sunny after the fog clears, the winds becoming northwesterly 5-10, afternoon high temperatures around 63. Another mostly cloudy night expected with light northerly winds along with that patchy early morning fog, the low near 47.

Wednesday, the ridge starts to build towards our area bringing us sunny skies in the afternoon, with the afternoon high temperature climbing up into the mid 60s, then we see a partly cloudy night, a slight chance of some patchy morning fog again, the low near 47.

Thursday the ridge builds over into our area, and we see sunny skies with the afternoon high temperature climbing into the upper 60s, and with partly cloudy skies that night, the low only down near 50.

We see some clouds Friday morning that burn off by the afternoon, the afternoon temperature back down near 64, and with partly cloudy skies again that night, the low near 49.

The nice weather continues over the weekend with Saturday and Sunday looking mostly sunny with highs in the mid 60s, and with partly cloudy nights, the lows stay in the upper 40s.
