James Albert Welsh, 56, a resident of the Forest Grove community passed away on April 9, 2026 in Hillsboro.
Jimmy was born on February 19, 1970 in Wiesbaden, Hessen, Germany. He was the oldest of eight children born to James J and Nellie (Moran) Welsh. He lived in Cypress for his first two years and then moved to Northern California where his family owned and operated a grocery store. Jimmy learned the Grocery business at a young age. He graduated from Jesuit High School in Sacramento, CA with the Class of 1988.
He enlisted into the us Air Force in 1989 and served his country until 1993 when he was honorably discharged.
In 1993 Jimmy joined Miles Christi order, here he served God as a missionary from the streets of Chicago to Mexico. In 1999 he moved to Manzanita, OR to be closer to his parents and started working on his parent’s grocery store. In 2021 he moved to Beaverton until 2023 when he made his home in Forest Grove.
He enjoyed helping take care of his parents, being a “favorite” uncle to his many nieces and nephews. He was into movies, listening to music (Punk), and playing guitar. He was an avid reader, a sci-fi buff and the ultimate homebody. Jimmy was also fond of Latin and Spanish speaking Mass.
He is survived by his parents James and Nellie Welsh of Forest Grove, seven siblings and their spouses, David and Karin Welsh of Hillsboro, Timothy Welsh and his companion Luda Freeman both of Newberg, Daniel and Lisa Welsh of Stuttgart, Germany, Jonathan and Anna Welsh of Manzanita, Mark and Stephanie Welsh of Yamhill, Peter and Dalena Welsh of Warrenton, OR, Rebecca Welsh and her companion, Cullen Guinn both of Portland. Also surviving are 23 nieces and nephews and five great nieces and nephews.
