When I chatted with Robin this week, I told her that she now has 2 birthdays – the one in November, and September 12, 2026 – when she received her new liver. In true “Robin” fashion, she’s breaking records for shortest stay in the ICU after a transplant (less than two days), skipping rehab facility, and going straight to patient housing. As we shared a few weeks ago, Robin has been part of the Pioneer team for over five years, brings us news and information about her favorite town, Rockaway Beach. Many of you know I am Robin Swain‘s BFF of nearly 50 years. Robin recently had successful liver transplant surgery. As I’m sure you also know, Robin is someone who is always giving to others. She is kind, generous, and incredibly active in the Rockaway Beach community. She has spent countless hours helping raise money and support for several nonprofits and causes that are important to her.
Right now, Robin needs some of that kindness returned.
Robin is now beginning the next chapter of her recovery. While we are incredibly grateful that she has been given the second chance, her journey is far from over.
Robin moved into patient housing this week while she continues to recover. This will be an important step forward, but it also means she’ll have everyday expenses while she’s away from home and concentrating on getting stronger.
We are hoping to raise $6800 for Robin to help with the essentials she will need during her recovery:
- Patient housing expenses (anticipated duration of stay is 90 days)
- Personal care items
- Transportation to and from the store and follow up appointments
- Every day necessities while she is in patient housing
- Prescription co-pays
And other unexpected expenses that come with being away from home for an extended period.
This isn’t about paying medical bills. It’s about making sure Robin has the basic things she needs so she can focus on healing instead of worrying about every day expenses.
