Tillamook Association for the Performing Arts (TAPA) is bringing its annual murder mystery dinner fundraiser to the Tillamook County Fairgrounds October 17 for an evening of food, mystery, and plenty of opportunities to get involved in the shenanigans. Tickets available at tillamooktheater.com.
This year’s “Boardwalk Melody Hour Murders” takes audiences back to Prohibition-era Atlantic City in 1932, where a live radio broadcast from the Imperial Ballroom is underway. The evening takes a turn when murder interrupts the broadcast, leaving guests to question the characters, follow the clues, and try to figure out who is responsible.
The event is designed to be as much a social evening as a theatrical experience. Guests will enjoy a four-course dinner from Pacific Restaurant, good company, a small silent auction and a night of live entertainment, with plenty of opportunities to interact with the characters and play along with the mystery. Dressing in 1930s or Prohibition-era style is encouraged but certainly not required. Open to guests age 21 and over, this event makes for a fun and unique chance to gather with friends, enjoy a great meal, and have a little fun while supporting local theater.
For those who have never attended a TAPA murder mystery dinner, this is a night that offers something a little different from a traditional theater performance. Come for the food, stay for the mystery, and keep an eye out for the murderer.
TAPA will also hold its annual membership meeting on Sunday, October 18, at 3:00 pm at the Barn Community Playhouse. TAPA members and general community members interested in learning more about the organization are welcome to attend. The meeting will include updates on TAPA’s past and upcoming season, an opportunity to learn more about the organization, and plans for the future.
